It can’t last forever – the British, the most contagious variant of SARS-CoV-2, have arrived in Poland.

Today’s genXone Lab reported on the network that the first case of a British variant of Coronavirus has been detected. A sample was taken from this laboratory from a patient from Małopolska, who turned out to be a Coronavirus in a variant discovered in September in Great Britain.

This is definitely not good news for us. Unlike the well-known “standard” variant for SARS-CoV-2, the British variant is up to 70 percent more contagious.

It is unknown because the magnitude of the problem is unknown. It is very likely that the British variant of the virus has been around for a longer time in our country. When asked about it, Minister Dworczyk admitted a few days ago that we do not have any case yet, because preparations for the detection of this particular alternative are underway. As you can see today, preparations were complete and we did not have to wait long for the first case.

This does not change the fact that the new variant of the coronavirus is responsible for the massive increase in the number of new coronavirus infections that we have been observing in the UK for several months. Likewise, if there are enough carriers of this type of Coronavirus in our country, we can expect a sharp increase in the number of cases detected in the near future, which in turn may bury hope that the economy will freeze and return to relative normality.

According to the information received from the Ministry of Health, a national survey will be launched next week to determine the extent of the presence of the British variant of the virus in our country.
