Merz denies HABC economic efficiency

With sharp words Frederick Merz shoots traffic light economic politics. According to the head of the CDU, the Ministry of Economy lacks sufficient experience to lead the country out of the crisis.

The leader of the trade union faction, Frederik Merz, attacked Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck and demanded a fresh start in the economic policy of the traffic light government. The head of the CDU, according to the participants of the general meeting of the Confederation of German Industries (BDI) in Berlin, said that expertise in economic policy is finally in demand at the management level of the Federal Ministry for Economics.

Merz demanded that if this was not already provided for by the Minister himself, then there should be a Secretary of State at least at the level of Secretary of State who understands something about economic policy. This is clearly not the case currently – which is to blame for hapc. The Federal Republic will face a catastrophic economic situation in 2023. Without a fresh start at the administration level, the federal government “will not be able to lead the country and its companies through the crisis.”

BDI President Siegfried Ruswurm has previously called on the federal government to adopt a forward-looking industrial and innovation policy agenda after his re-election. “Politicians think more about controlling and directing the economy and burdening it with obligations rather than supporting it in a targeted way,” he explained. BDI is one of the most influential pressure groups.
