Eight gold bars were smuggled into the game consoles

Customs officers confiscated gold bars with a total weight of about one kilogram and a value of 60,000 euros at Leipzig/Halle Airport – hidden in game consoles.

According to the description of the goods, the monitors must be in the shipment, among other things. However, during the subsequent examination, officials recognized irregularities in the X-ray image.

Then each device was unlocked. A total of eight gold bars, each weighing 125 grams, were seized. These batteries were concealed, wrapped in black tape, and integrated into the consoles.

Money laundering was suspected due to the amount of gold and the presentation of the shipment, in particular the fact that it was hidden in the consoles. The Prosecutor General in Leipzig has initiated money laundering proceedings against those involved.
