Israeli citizens returning from abroad are required to pass a PCR test after returning to the country and quarantined. The government has decided that vaccinated and otherwise healthy Israelis will be quarantined for three days, and non-vaccinated Israelis will be subject to seven days of self-isolation, provided the second coronavirus test is negative.

On Friday, the Israeli authorities decided to put all African countries, except for the northern part of the continent, on the red list of countries to which Israelis are not allowed to travel without special permission.

Travelers from these countries are also prevented from entering Israel. Israel Logistics is using, among other things, monitoring cell phones to combat terrorism, locating everyone who came from these countries in the past week to “direct them to quarantine immediately,” the office said.

The Ministry of Health said a different type of Omicron coronavirus found in several South African countries has been identified in Israel in a patient who returned from Malawi. Another seven cases of infection with the new coronavirus are also being investigated.

Israel is the first country to completely close its borders due to the emergence of the Omikron variant.
