The letter of the Minister of Education and Science on the occasion of the opening of the school year 2021/2022

On the occasion of the opening of the 2021/2022 academic year, the Minister of Education and Science, Przemyslav Ksarnik, sent a message to the entire academic community. In it, he expressed his hope that the coming period, despite the continuation of the epidemic and the difficulties associated with it, would achieve many scientific successes, develop Polish universities and strengthen their position on the international scene. The MEiN President also emphasized that the Ministry of Education and Science will provide universities with additional funds to invest in research and education infrastructure. It will be a record amount of 1 billion PLN.

Beginning of the school year 2021/2022

On this special day, I would like to convey to you my best wishes and expressions of deep respect. I especially warmly welcome students who have crossed the walls of the university for the first time and begin their adventure with the world of science, becoming part of the academic community. Gaudeamus igitur! – Minister Przemysław Czarnek wrote in a letter to the entire academic community.

The MEiN President confirmed that there will be another year for students, doctoral students and university staff, as they will face the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, he hoped that, despite the possible difficulties related to the epidemic, the coming time will bring many successes, leading to the development of the potential of Polish universities, strengthening their position on the international arena and strengthening cooperation between science and the economic sector.

– In the new academic year, we plan to support universities with a record amount of PLN 1 billion. Additional funds will be allocated to investments in universities supervised by the Minister of Education and Science and institutes affiliated with the Łukasiewicz Research Network – indicated the President of MEiN. He added that investments in research and education infrastructure, which enhance the scientific potential of universities, will translate directly into the economic development of Poland in the future.

Minister Przemyslav Czarnik also reminded in his letter that the university’s mission is to conduct scientific research, to disseminate the truth and to educate the ability to discover it.
