Szymon Szymonowicz (Cement Gryf Chełm) won a bronze medal at the European Under-23 Wrestling Championships in the 87kg category in classic style in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

In the fight for bronze, Šimonović defeated Croatian Matia Mandica 8-0. Hungarian Isztvan Takacs became the European champion by defeating Turpan Bisultanov of Denmark 5:4. The remaining bronze medal in this category went to Lachin and Alijeu of Azerbaijan, after winning the fencing with Armenian Gevorg Tadevosyan 6:5.

Two Red and White fought for the Bronze Disc, but they had to acknowledge the superiority of their competitors. Tomas Warcinczyk (Junya Racibors) in the 130kg weight category lost to Georgian Giorga Kopuraszvili in a 1-1 draw, while Patrick Bednars (Olympic Radom) did not fit in in the 77kg weight category for Turk Abdurrahman Kalkan who won 5:0.

Poland ranked eighth in the event score ranking. The Poles collected 49 points. Before them were Georgia 183, Turkey 156, Azerbaijan 102, Hungary and Armenia 91 each, Bulgaria 57 and Moldova 53. Wrestlers from 27 countries competed. They scored from 25.

The tournament ends on March 13th.
