There is no information yet on whether the show will tell its own story or adapt one of the games, although Ubisoft’s approach to telling Assassin’s Creed stories so far may indicate that this would be an original story that would fit the franchise law, similar to Michael Fassbender – Frontline Assassin’s Creed movie.
Ubisoft had been considering a sequel to this movie for a while, although its rights were held by Fox and the plans were canceled when the studio was purchased by Disney.
Back in 2017, creator of Netflix’s Castlevania series Adi Shankar has suggested that he will then work on the Assassin’s Creed animated series. We haven’t heard anything about it since, but today’s press release mentions that animation projects in Assassin’s Creed are also in the pipeline – so maybe the dream will continue.
Netflix is of course the home of The very successful The Witcher TV Series, Which appears to be already renewed for the third season before the second edition.
