CITY bands including Frankie & The Heartstrings will be bringing music back to Sunderland Minster as past of the university’s Students Union Summer Fair.

The music part of the event, on Saturday May 25, is being organised by Split and other confirmed acts include Lilliput, Let’s Away, Cohesion, Reckoner, The Generals, Gallery Circus and Built Like a Gun.

The event comes just two days before the release of Frankie & The Heartstrings second album, The Days Run Away, and their forthcoming national tour to promote it.

Frankie Francis, from Frankie & The Heartstrings said: “To be able to launch our UK tour and campaign for our new album at home in our native Sunderland, is special. And to be able to do it in such style by playing the historic Minster is a real treat for us all.

“We’ve worked really hard on this record and at times it’s been difficult. We are ready now to unleash it to the world but not before we let the people of our home town hear it first!”

The music will begin at 4pm and end at midnight, and there will also be stalls, food and other attractions earlier in the day.

Ryan Dowse from Sunderland Students’ Union said: “We’ll be taking over one of the most beautiful buildings in the city for the day, starting with a free afternoon of party games, stalls, foods and attractions and topped off with an amazing line up of music.”

Tickets for this event start at just £5 and are available from Hot Rats, Sunderland and through this link.
