Lone travellers, hitchers and those with empty car seats are being encouraged to link up this year and jointly plan out their journey to the Willowman festival.
The festival has teamed up with goCarShare to make it easier for people to find others who are willing to car share – no matter how big or small the size of vehicle.
Speaking next to a Monster car Willowman director Steve Williams commented “This is a great opportunity for our customers to save fuel money by splitting the costs and for them to minimise the environmental impact of attending a festival by all jumping in a car together. We think goCarShare is a great idea and we are very happy to help promote it”.
goCarShare is an organisation which promotes car sharing by matching up drivers with foot passengers travelling to the same destination. The obvious benefits are financial for both parties as well as being seen as a greener way to plan your journey. goCarShare also point out the social benefits and the opportunity to meet likeminded people particularly when travelling to festivals.
Gocarshare spokesperson Paul said “Travelling in a full car is actually a very green way to travel, per person carbon emissions are even lower than if you were to take the train. Excitingly though, goCarShare is an online service that has already helped forged new friendships, even a goCarShare couple! We are super excited about what the 2013 festival season has in store.“
For those attending the Willowman festival they will be treated to four days of entertainment spread over four stages. Highlights of the summer solstice weekend include The Wonder Stuff, Space, New Model Army and The Orb Soundsystem.
Now in its fourth year this North Yorkshire festival has gained a positive reputation for its handpicked line up which manages to successfully blend well known Veteran acts with emerging talent from around the country.
Willowman will take place at Hillside Rural Activities Park near Thirsk from the 20th to the 23rd June.
Tickets are priced at £70 per adult for the four days which includes camping and parking.
