Autumn is here – a season so full of fabulous treats that the wash-out of a summer will soon become a distant memory.
Here we take a look at some of the favourite things we just love about autumn.
Autumn really does make everything look like an oil painting – so get out there and soak up the season’s rich palette of colours.
2. Memorable Sunsets
No other season delivers up brilliant shades of orange like autumn does.
3. Autumn Leaves
Not only do they look beautiful when they’re on the trees – ranging from green to gold to orange and red – they’re also fun when they’re on the ground. Go on, admit it, who can resists scuffling through piles of crisp autumn leaves when they’re on the ground…..guaranteed to bring out the kid in all of us.
4. Comfort Food
The cold weather autumn brings gives you an excuse to cook hearty stews, warm puddings with custard, and sip on mugs of hot chocolate – with marshmallows and cream, of course.
5. Pumpkin-flavoured Everything
The season also welcomes a whole array of new vegetables to try out, such as pumpkins and butternut squash. As a result, everything takes on a pumpkin flavour – from muffins and soup to the arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte!
Speaking of pumpkins, another great thing about autumn is Halloween – a night when we get to carve lanterns out of vegetables, watch spooky films, dress up, eat loads of sweets and generally act like a child again.
7. Cosy Knits
The colder, crisper weather of autumn also means it’s time to dig out all those comfy knit sweaters you’ve been missing.
8. Coming home to a roaring fire
Nothing beats finishing your day at home, snuggled on the sofa in front of a roaring fire.
Remember, remember, that the 5th of November….it’s a time to grab your scarf, some sparklers and a toffee apple and head outside to watch the sky exploding in a burst of colours.
10. Blankys to snuggle under
Dig out those wonderful, snuggly blankets and give an instant boost to your relaxation.
11. Less Humidity
Everyone enjoys a nice, sunny summer afternoon, but when temperatures soar, problems can start – from our clothes sticking to us, to the dreaded humidity hair (just think Monica and Friends!). The cooler autumn weather means we can wave goodbye to frizzy locks.
12. The Countdown to Christmas starts
Ok so we have left this last in the list as it’s still a bit early but already shops are starting to fill their shelves with festive goodies and as soon as Guy Fawkes Night is over, the real countdown to Christmas starts…..
