The current president of the Polish Toboggan Sports Association, Zdzisław Ingielewicz, was elected on Saturday in Warsaw for the next term that will last until 2026. He was the only candidate. 17 delegates supported it, without any vote against.

Previously, he was elected president on September 12, 2020, also in Warsaw.

Delegates adopted a resolution on the establishment of a common artificially frozen ice track at Krynica-Zdrój and Duszniki-Zdrój. They considered it the most important endeavor of the Olympic disciplines – bobsleigh, bobsleigh and skeleton.

In Poland there is no such facility, which means that we cannot increase the number of young coaches, as well as organize national and international events, including the Polish championship in the country, and not abroad.

The lack of prestigious international track and events, such as the World and European Championships for seniors and juniors, means a lack of television broadcasts promoting majors and difficulties in obtaining sponsors. It is advisable to return to the concept of recreating the Olympic Preparation Center of the Central Sports Center in Krynica-Zdrój. It will also solve the problem of financing the construction and maintenance of the ice track from the state budget through the Ministry of Sports and Tourism and COS.

Delegates also supported the intention to build a second artificially frozen ice track at the Olympic Preparation Center of the Central Sports Center in Duszniki-Zdrój, which was built last year.

The General Assembly for Reporting and Election of delegates of the Polish Toboggan Sports Association stated that the most important undertaking for the development of Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines in skating sports is the construction of composite (plastic) tracks, which are not available in Poland, which means that the number of talented young people included in the training cannot be increased. Organizing summer training campaigns on skates (summer overlays), as well as promotional and recreational events.

The best locations for these investments, with a rich tradition and history of skiing, are Karpacz, Jelenia Góra-Sobieszów and Marcinkowice near the world-famous Nowy Sącz.

The General Meeting stated that one of the important undertakings for the development of natural skating is to create a naturally frozen ice track with the approval of the International Ski Federation (FIL), which allows the organization of international events, which is not available in Poland.

The best location for this investment is the “Sankolandia FAKRO” area in Muszyna Złockie. On the slopes of Kotelniczy Wierch there are empty areas, which – after carrying out the necessary earthworks – are ideal for marking the path of naturally frozen ice. For practical and technical reasons, the track should be laid parallel to existing recreational toboggan runs.

The presence of a naturally frozen ice track with FIL approval will allow you to apply for the organization of prestigious international competitions, including tournaments and the World Cup. (PAP)
