Sunderland’s Royalty Theatre is to stage a production of John Godber’s culture-clash comedy Perfect Pitch. The show will run for five performances between March 5th and March 9th 2013.
Set on a Yorkshire caravan site, the play follows a middle-class couple whose idyllic holiday is crashed by brassy pair of lovers who pitch up alongside them.
Ron, a prematurely retired head teacher, and his wife, Yvonne, a would-be marathoner, park up on a cliff in Yorkshire. The dull, snobbish couple’s peace is shattered when the sound of noisy lovemaking heralds the arrival of Steph and Grant, a young, working-class pair of seasoned caravanners,
Originally commissioned in 1998 by the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Perfect Pitch is one of Godber’s best plays, and its popularity remains undiminished. The Royalty’s production, sponsored by Rowlands Accountants, is sure to win it new fans.
Renowned for providing an evening of excellent live entertainment in a friendly, intimate atmosphere, The Royalty Theatre boasts comfortable seating, a fully stocked bar and excellent value for money. The Royalty Theatre is the only venue in the city of Sunderland providing regular dramatic productions, staging seven productions each season since it’s opening in 1925. Their production of Macbeth last year was watched by Shakespeare devotee and acting legend Sir Ian McKellen.
All tickets for forthcoming productions are available to buy online from Ticket Source. They are also available from the Tourist Information Centre Sunderland (0191 553 2000) and can be purchased from the theatre’s Box Office on the night of the performance.
