Punk veteran Eddie Tudor Pole now has his own real ale named after his 1981 top ten hit Swords of a 1000 Men.
The Tenpole Tudor frontman is performing at the Willowman Festival near Thirsk this weekend (June 19-22) which has built up a reputation for live music and also great real ale.
Northallerton-based Walls County Town Brewery is sponsoring the festival as well as sourcing several real ales including a special brew Swords of a 1000 Men from the Revolution Brewery in Castleford.
Eddie Tudor Pole, who famously starred alongside the Sex Pistols in the movie The Great Rock and Roll Swindle, is performing live at Willowman which takes place at Hillside Rural Activities Park in Knayton.
For the past two years the Walls County Town brewery has supplied the festival with several of its own real ales like Summer Gold, Gun Dog and IPA.
Head brewer and brewery owner David Walls said: “Willowman Festival is building a great reputation as a rock music event but also for its beer. We brew Willow Wobbly each year for the event but this year thought we find another ale especially for one of the acts. Eddie Tudor Pole is a lively character and so is his ale which Revolution Brewery have made especially in his honour!”
Revolution Brewery have also brewed an ale called Uprising after the late reggae legend Bob Marley to mark the appearance of his band The Wailers at Willowman and a beer called Memorabilia. To continue the music theme the beers have been brewed at strengths of 3.3, 4.5 and 7.8 to mark the playing speeds of vinyl records.
Eddie Tudor Pole said: “What an honour to have my own ale. I shall certainly be having a tipple after the show!”
There will be a further seven real ales on tap at the festival as well as four specialist ciders and a range of lagers.
Festival organiser Steve Williams from Brompton said: “The Willowman Festival is now in its fifth year and prides itself in providing a top quality eclectic mix of music along with family attractions, children’s activities and of course the best real ale in Yorkshire.”
Tenpole Tudor are on the bill which includes the sound of Bob Marley’s Wailers, fellow new wave band Ruts DC, The Blockheads, Ian McNabb and Craig Charles with his Funk and Soul Show.
Tickets will be available on the gate but can also be purchased on-line at www.willowmanfestival.co.uk for only £65 per adult which includes up to four nights free weekend camping. Children under 12 get in free.
