Etflix secured more exhibition space in the Southeast and agreed to double the size of the production center at popular Shepperton Studios.

The deal was revealed with the site’s owner, the Pinewood Group, who has announced a commitment to expand studios near Heathrow Airport. It currently has about 14 stages, which will rise to 31, although not all of them will be used by Netflix.

Netflix is currently using Shepperton to film shows like Enola Holmes 2.

Pinewood said today it has entered into a “long-term deal” with the California-based broadcasting giant to double the size of Shepperton Studios’ existing production center.

The new space is scheduled to be ready in 2023.

Paul Golding, president of the Pinewood Group, said the tenant’s commitment to the Shepperton expansion “confirms our operational experience and allows us to continue our investment in this fantastic studio.”

Anna Mallett, Vice President of Physical Production at Netflix UK & EMEA said: “The new contract with Shepperton underscores our commitment to investing in the UK’s creative industries and will provide a wealth of opportunities and positions for productions from junior to department heads.”

In 2021, the company had a UK production budget of over $1 billion (£740 billion) and around 10,000 people are working on the Netflix original production in the UK.
