In the 2021/2022 school year, care and education will be provided to more than 17,000 students and 2,000 adults (in public and private schools).

The city will be the governing body for 44 schools and institutions. In turn, there are 67 non-governmental institutions and schools (recorded in the register) run by 47 entities.

In the last academic year, more than 4,800 children, teenagers and students, and about 120 pupils, used the non-public institution offer. In 2020, the city spent almost 36 million PLN on non-public education, which is more than 15.5% of the total expenditure on the implementation of educational tasks.

There are 14 city-run primary schools in Legnica. In the 2021/22 school year, 861 children born in 2014, and 40 departments, including 796 children in 34 departments in 11 district schools, are scheduled to start their education there. Due to the construction of new apartment complexes, the number of Class I classes has been increased in SP No. 19 and SP07. In all primary schools in the academic year 2021/202 there will be 7,026 students in 339 departments (2020/21 – 6,948 in 334 departments). Moreover, 715 male and female students will study in 66 departments in non-governmental primary schools.

Employed by 23 secondary schools: 10 secondary schools, of which 3 are non-governmental, 8 are technical, including 2 are non-governmental and 5 are first-class vocational schools.1382 male and female students. 36.25% of primary school graduates are from outside Legnica. The numbers of first graders presented in the registration schedule are not final. The number of admissions may increase because schools with free places are still accepting applications from students who did not participate in online recruitment.

In the new school year, teaching and learning tasks will be performed by approximately 1,670 teachers with 1,665.49 transfer positions (last year there were 1,654.37 positions), including about 1,285 full-time employees (1, 504.34 positions). In the last academic year, 1,207 full-time teachers were employed, with 1,442.04 jobs. It is planned to employ 759 non-teacher faculty members with 688.5 transfer positions.

Children in municipal kindergartens for the school year 2021/22 were electronically registered. Recruitment took place in two stages. The first stage included children who continued their education in pre-school. The second stage concerns children who have not yet been covered by pre-school education. More than 640 children (631 + 11) participated in the recruitment.

557 children were accepted into municipal kindergartens (492 + 11 + 54 according to indicators), and 1508 were announced as their continuation.

3,576 children were born between 2015 and 2018. Pre-school education covers 3,817 children (in 2020-3668):

  • Municipal kindergarten – 1999 children, 90 departments,
  • Departments of preschool education in primary school No. 1, No. 4, No. 10-86 children, 4 departments,
  • Non-public kindergartens – 1665 children, 82 departments,
  • Kindergarten points – 67 children in 5 sections.

In the network of kindergartens in the city there are 47 preschool centers – 17 municipal kindergartens, including 2 private kindergartens, only one operates in the school complex and preschool education departments in 3 primary and non-public schools – 24 kindergartens, 3 kindergartens points.

The prevalence of preschool education in our city in the 2021/22 school year is likely to be more than 106.74%.
