Music fans in the North of England will be among the last to see chart-toppers JLS perform live.
The band, who have sold more than 10million records since being discovered on X Factor in 2008, announced their split earlier today – but the foursome have confirmed they will perform at Sunderland’s North East Live in the summer.
North East Live, at the Stadium of Light on June 22, will be the band’s last major outdoor gig in the region before they officially part ways later this year.
Made up of Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill, and Oritse Williams, JLS shot to fame in 2008 after finishing second to Alexandra Burke on the TV reality show. Now, after five number one hits and two Brit awards under their belts, they are splitting.
The group will bow out with a farewell tour in December along with a final single and a greatest hits album.
The North East Live gig, which is being headlined by JLS, will also feature live performances by The Wanted, Rita Ora, Lawson, Little Mix, Amelia Lily, James Arthur, Stooshe, Conor Maynard, Union J and The Vamps.
Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director at Sunderland AFC, said: “Whilst I’m sure today’s announcement is a sad one for JLS’s army of fans, we are delighted to be able to give them the opportunity to see the band for one last time at North East Live.”
Tickets for North East Live, priced from £25 each, are available online at www.aeglive.co.uk or by calling 0871 230 1097 or 0844 477 5775.
