The line-up for the 9th Annual Oyster Festival has been announced and headlining the 2012 festival will be top Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan who boasts the highest selling DVD sales in Ireland and is second only to U2 when it comes to live ticket sales in Ireland.

Tiernan’s comedic style has been described as often being as hilarious as it is instinctual and controversial. Tommy not only enjoys success in the UK and Ireland but also in Canada, America, Australia, and New Zealand. He is a popular export in America and regularly appears on the Late Show with David Letterman to rave review and will be bringing his distinctive style of comedy to the north east for one day only.

John Adamson, Managing Director of The Ramside Estates Group, said: “Tommy Tiernan is in demand all over the world so we’re thrilled to have secured him for the 2012 Festival. I’m sure his unique Irish style comedy will be a hit with festival-goers.”

Festival goers can also look forward to fantastic live music from Mike McGrother’s Rogues originally from Teesside, ex-Lindisfarne vocalist Marty Craggs and his band The Happy Cats and SKA tribute band Badness.

The Oyster Festival, which is held in a giant marquee in the grounds of Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield and attracts up to 2,000 festival goers each year, is regarded as one of the north east’s most popular corporate events.

As well as first class entertainment, the festival which is now in its ninth year also includes a Champagne Reception, Oyster Stalls and a superb 3 course Fruits de Mer meal including dressed crab, Dublin Bay prawns, Scottish poached salmon & mussels. The package also includes free flowing wine, beer and lager all day.
