IPhone unlocked with Apple Watch in iOS 14.5

The beta version of iOS 14.5 was made available to developers, so we have more information than before, even before the update is released for regular users. Of course, the most recent novelty of this update is the possibility Unlock your iPhone with Apple Watch. This is a reaction to a prolonged situation that requires us to wear masks that cover the mouth and nose, and this effectively prevents the Face ID sensors from recognizing the user. As a result, the only solution is to remove the mask regularly or enter the PIN, which is clearly not the most enjoyable thing you can do if you do it often.

Apple will launch virtual reality glasses with LiDAR next year. It’s hard to believe

There will be a switch in Face ID settings to enable watch phone unlock. However, there are a few things to keep in mind: The Apple Watch must be on the user’s wrist and it must be unlocked (that is, if you don’t have a PIN code set on your smartwatch yet, you’ll have to do so). If you lift your hand and put it back in, your Apple Watch will ask for a passcode before it unlocks the iPhone.

In addition to that, every time you unlock the phone, you will receive a notification on Apple Watch about this fact, and the screen will also display a button that allows you to lock the phone again. This will prevent errors, as the iPhone will instantly display a suitable message and ask the user to verify the identity with Face ID or a code. In fact, unlocking Android devices with paired accessories via Bluetooth has been working for years, but is very convenient, comfortable and safe as Apple’s solution? The short answer is no, which is why I hope Google will also improve Smart Lock security on Android / Wear OS in the near future.
