Many of us are dreaming of jetting off to the sun for our summer breaks.
And whether you have your trip planned, booked and paid for or if you are waiting to try to bag a last minute bargain, which tourism destinations have made it into the hot-spot list this summer?
According to long-haul tour operator Virgin Holidays, the top five holiday destinations for Summer 2017 are:
WELL, IT FINALLY HAPPENED. Haven’t we all been saying, that we need to go to Cuba before it all gets spoiled - and under its new government, Cuba is opening up to more tourism, making it a top holiday destination. As a result, more and more tourists are flocking to Cuba and from this April, you can now fly direct to Havana and Varadero. Havana is still dreamily dilapidated, with a magic like nowhere else, though there are some cool new boutique hotels and bars setting up shop in its old colonial buildings; and there are still beaches that haven’t had a five-star hotel plonked on them – but it can’t last forever. Go. Now
2. Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada’s largest city, is famous for its drive-through weddings, Elvis impersonators and casinos. It is glitzy, brash, opulent and tacky, but also exciting and very entertaining. It is the home of theme hotels and theme parks as well as huge shopping malls and hundreds of restaurants. Las Vegas is one of the most remote large cities in the US and its surrounding area offers some of the region’s most stunning scenery, making it a much-loved holiday destination.
Seattle is a seaport city on the west coast of America, surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, with thousands of acres of parkland, making it an ideal holiday destination. The futuristic Space Needle, a 1962 World’s Fair legacy, is its most iconic landmark.
This Middle-East hot spot has quickly established itself as a rival to more traditional family holiday destinations with impressive hotels, sunny climate and plentiful attractions..
It may be slightly tricky to get too, but the sheer beauty of the area, growth of diverse accommodation, and popular recognition will see a huge growth in British travellers to this jewel of the Indian Ocean.
Dave Geer, Director of Product & Commercial at Virgin Holidays, said: “When people think of holiday destinations there is the classic association with favourites such as Orlando or New York. However, our list highlights the holiday destination hot spots that will have a real buzz about them in 2017 – some of them expected, some of them surprising.”
