We already know that most universities in Poznan tend to continue studying remotely also in the summer semester. Universities can count on financial support from the government for this. They will distribute 55 million PLN between universities to improve the distance learning process. It is around 850 PLN per lecturer.
55 million for universities to learn from
Financial support for the purchase of distance learning tools will be granted to all public universities supervised by the Minister of Education and Science and non-governmental universities with funding from public universities. The Minister of Education and Science stated, The amount of financial resources for individual universities was determined based on the average number of full-time academic teachers employed in individual universities in 2019.
The university authorities will decide the final allocation of the increased support. They are the ones who know the current needs better. The purchased equipment will remain the property of the University. It will be possible to make it available to employees to facilitate distance learning – said Minister of Education and Science Przemislav Kazarnik.
Funds can be allocated To purchase distance learning tools Used centrally at the university level – as an IT platform for online classrooms or to purchase tools that facilitate classes by academic teachers, including cameras, laptops, and tablets.
Distance learning at the university: No support is needed
Poznan universities mostly remain in distance learning until the end of the academic year. It is indeed certain that the University of Life Sciences, as in the winter semester, will in most cases conduct classes remotely. The extra funds will make this process easier – says Iwona Cieślik of the University of Life Sciences in Poznan.
Adam Mickiewicz has not made a formal decision on this, but it is reported that students will not be returning to lecture rooms soon. – Everything indicates that teaching at AMU in the summer semester will be done remotely – says Małgorzata Rybczyńska, AMU Press Spokesperson.
How much will the lecturers get from the government?
The starting point for calculating the increase in subsidies was the PLN 500 mechanism for teachers introduced into the education system. The differences between the education system and the higher education system and science led to a different way of spending. These differences relate to, among other things, tax systems that are more favorable for academic teachers. – This support for the lecturers amounts to about 850 PLN per academic teacher – said Minister Kazarnik.
