Fresh from their tour with indie-rockers The 1975, Darlia  stop by Wearside to storm Independent, on Thursday September 19th, 2013.

Hotly tipped by the likes of XFM, the Blackpool trio have been compare to the likes of Placebo and early Smashing Pumpkins.

Sure to enthrall fans of grungy alt-rock, the show is a great opportunity to catch a band on the fast road to acclaim; XFM’s Head of Music, Mike Walsh, recently hailed them as “amazing”. Check out their track Queen of Hearts on YouTube.

Support comes from local acts Tomahawks for Targets and Human Sacrifice Club.

Darlia’s performance also marks the opening night of Independent’s brand new room. The new addition to the venue’s arsenal of facilities, this newly refurbished space will double the venue’s capacity for fantastic live music events.

Tickets for the show are £4.00, and doors will open at 8pm.

Not content with promoting fantastic shows in the region’s best venues, Independent continues to act as the epicenter of live music in Sunderland from its new home, following its recent move to the previous Van Mildert store. Directly across the road from its former home on Holmeside, the new Independent has had tens of thousands of pounds ploughed into its renovation. Over the years, Independent has hosted huge acts such as The Klaxons, Alt-J and Spector, and now Sunderland’s only dedicated entertainment venue is back doing what it does best; attracting top names from the international live circuit.
