James Skelley, former front-man with Merseyside favourites The Coral, brings his solo project to Newcastle’s Other Rooms on Saturday September 28th.

The beloved psychedelic mod-rockers announced an indefinite hiatus last year in order to concentrate on individual projects. Skelly released album Love Undercover in June of this year, with his band The Intenders. Comprising Coral members Ian Skelly, Paul Duffy and Nick Power, as well as members of The Sundowners and Tramp Attack, the outfit unveiled a less abstract dimension to Skelley’s songwriting style and highlighted the earthy power of his distinctive vocals. Love Undercover has already garnered national applause, with The Independent dubbing it a ” great lolloping blues boogie,” and NME praising its “harder, more lively take on 60s rhythm and blues”.

Located at ones of Newcastle’s favourite live music and club hotspots, in the heart of Times Square, The Other Rooms is the city’s home for those with a passion for Indie rock and roll and everything alternative.
