Bond fans are invited to the Casino Royale Ball in Newcastle to back one woman’s action packed fund-raising adventure to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

Medical sales person Nadine Davies, 28, from Gateshead will scale the world’s highest free standing mountain to raise funds for the city’s Marie Curie Hospice.

She is banking on Bond fans flocking to the black tie event at Grosvenor Casino to help raise funds for the hospice and generate sponsorship for her trek up the 19,341 ft (5,895m) mountain in Tanzania.

Nadine is making the trek next summer with commercial photographer Dan Aziz, 27, from Newcastle and Larna Simpson, 25, from Durham who are co-organising the Casino Royale Ball.  The proceeds from the evening will be going towards their sponsorship target which. Each trekker has the target of £4,000 to raise. Rather than asking people for sponsorship, they decided to put on the ball.

Nadine said: “Both my grandparents spent their last days in a hospice and the care that was given to them was unbelievable.  My granddad suffered from bowl cancer and my nana had a form of cancer that had spread by the time it was detected and died within weeks of being diagnosed.

“The staff gave them dignity and choices about how they wanted to be cared for and the settings were lovely – fresh flowers in the room every day – those little touches made all the difference.

“When I was approached to Climb Machu Picchu for another charity I said quite casually, if I was to climb any mountain it would have to be casino royale ballMount Kilimanjaro and for a hospice and didn’t think anything else of it until I heard on the radio Marie Curie were looking for volunteers to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Well, I couldn’t go back on my word, so here I am swapping my high heels for walking boots!”

To get an idea of what the money can do £20 pays for a Marie Curie Nurse for one hour in a patient’s home, £235 would pay for attendance at a Day Therapy unit for one day at a Marie Curie Hospice while £515 pays for the cost of caring for an in-patient at the Marie Curie Hospice, for a day.

Visitors to the ball will be captured by a photographer with men dressed as 007 and women in their cocktail dresses.

Singer Andy Barker will croon some Bond and swing classics while burlesque dancers from Tempest Dance Studio and belly dancer Joanne will make sure guests will be shaken and not stirred as they try their luck on the Roulette and Black Jack Tables.

There will also be the chance to win great prizes on the Wheel of Fortune and bid in style in the Charity Auction.  This event is perfect for Christmas Parties, couples and friends who want to have a night of sophistication for a fantastic cause.

This event will take place on November 24th on top floor of Grosvenor Casino Newcastle, including the balcony, making it an elegant setting.

All tuxedos hired from Most Suitable, 63 High Bridge, Newcastle (0191 232 3232) will also donate £5 to Marie Curie.

Tickets can be bought from Grosvenor Casino reception (01912603303) or from www.mariecuriecasinoroyaleball.eventbrite.co.uk.
